I get so many requests for easy no oven recipes. And this recipe was long overdue. I wanted to bring you a delicious chocolate cake, made with only 3 ingredients and doesn't even require the use of an oven.
Why 3 ingredients?
Well I wanted to create a unique 3 ingredient cake recipe that didn't need any eggs, butter or flour. This cake is both moist and and chocolatey. With the situation changing for everyone all over the world, I thought it would be nice to create a range of recipes using only a handful of ingredients and that don't require a lot of time to recreate.
Will you be creating more 3 ingredient recipes?
Yes! I will be thoroughly testing all recipes in my Test Kitchen. If they pass the stringent testing process, then they will be shared on the website.
You said 3 ingredient cake, but there are 5 ingredients. Whats going on?
Yes, the ingredients list a 'cake' that only takes 3 ingredients. The ganache is optional and that too requires only 2 ingredients.
Preparation time 15 minutes
Cook time 25 minutes
Serves 6
Ingredients
28 Oreo Cookies- Cookies and creams separated
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup cold whole milk
Chocolate Ganache (optional)
1 cup dark chocolate
1/2 cup double cream
Instructions
Separate the Oreo biscuits from the centres. Set the whites aside.
Crush the biscuits in a food processor or with a rolling pin. Place them in a bowl.
Add the baking powder to the cookie crumbs. Whisk them together until well combined.
Pour the milk into the crumbs and mix well with a whisk.
Add the Oreo centres to the batter and mix it very well.
Grease a small saucepan with butter and line with parchment paper.
Pour the batter into a pan and cover with a lid. Place the pan on a low heat.
Cook the cake on a low stove for 25 minutes. The cake is cooked when an inserted skewer comes out clean.
At this point the cake is done, however you can top the cake with a thick chocolate ganache just because. To make the ganache, heat the cream in a sauce pan until simmering. Switch off the stove and pour the cream over the chocolate. Set aside for 10 minutes and then stir to combine. If you have a microwave then alternatively you can put the chocolate and cream in a bowl, heat at 30 second bursts until melted. Stir to combine and set aside.
While the cake is warm, pour the ganache over the top. I add the ganache while the cake is warm so that the ganache will semi melt into the cake too. Ooooh, that's the stuff. Top with your favourite decorations.
Notes
You can mix up the ganache flavouring using white, milk or dark chocolate.
Only use the original Oreos for this recipe. Using the other flavours ie: strawberry, lemon or mint, will leave a weird flavour in the actual cake. And we don't want that, do we?
Let me know what you guys think after you have tried this 3 ingredient cake. I'd love to hear from you. Much love and have a good one.
