This recipe is just in time for the Chinese New Year! Sweet and sour shrimp! You guys are going to love it. Serve with your favourite rice or noodles for a great fake take out Friday night meal.

Serves 4
Ingredients
1/2 lb shrimp- peeled and deveined
1 teaspoon soya sauce
1 egg
1 teaspoon corn flour
Sauce
1/3 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
2 tablespoons sweet chilli sauce
1 teaspoon soya sauce
1 teaspoon vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon corn flour
Other Ingredients
1 cup corn flour - for coating
1 tablespoon garlic- minced
1/4 onion- in chunks
1/2 green bell pepper- in chunks
Oil for deep frying
Instructions
Combine the sauce ingredients in a bowl. Mix well then set aside.
In a clean bowl, combine the shrimp, soya sauce, egg and 1 teaspoon corn flour. Mix well and set aside.
Heat the oil for deep frying to 170c.
Coat the shrimp in the extra 1 cup of corn flour. Dust off the excess.
Fry the shrimp for 2-3 minutes, drain then set aside.
Heat 1 teaspoon oil in a wok, add the garlic, sauté 1 minute then add the green bell pepper and onion.
Sauté the vegetables for 2 minutes on a low heat.
Add the sauce ingredients and cook on a low heat until thickened. It takes around 2-3 minutes for the sauce to thicken.
Refry the shrimp for 30 seconds, drain and then quickly toss them into the sauce.
Cook on a low heat for 2 minutes.
Serve with your favourite rice.
