I feel that apples are the most versatile fruit ever! You can make so many desserts with apples, and even mix the apples with other fruits to make desserts even better. I believe the apple should be celebrated! And these salted caramel apple pie bars are perfect to show you how beautiful apples can be. Top your salted caramel apple pie bars with a thick drizzle of salted caramel!
Can I use any other fruit with the apples/ instead of them?
If you don’t have apples, then you can use pears! They taste delicious in this dessert. Or mix the apples up with some berries and transform these bars into something truly spectacular.
Can I use gluten free flour?
Yes go ahead and use the same quantities of gluten free flour if you can’t consume regular wheat flour. No need to add, subtract or change the quantities for the gluten free flour.

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 160c. Line an 8x8 inch square pan with parchment. Set it aside.
Prepare the crust: combine the dry ingredients. Mix well. Add the melted butter and mix well. Press the crust into the prepared pan. Bake it for 15 minutes and then set it aside.
Make the filling: combine the apples, flour, sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Mix well to coat the apples and then set them aside.
Make the streusel: whisk the oats, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon. Add the cold, cubed butter and rub between fingers to create coarse breadcrumb texture. Set aside.
Once the base is baked, layer the apples on top of one another. Press them down slightly. Sprinkle the streusel topping over the apples. Bake at 170c for 30-35 minutes until golden.
Remove from the oven and cool on the counter for 20 minutes. Then chill in the fridge for 2 hours before slicing and serving. Top with salted caramel.
