M&M Brownies

I have wanted to share my m&m brownie recipe for months, but I have been so swamped with all the recipes I uploaded lately, I couldn’t share one of my family’s favourites. The kids were so stoked when the smell of melted chocolate wafted through the house. They saw the chocolate and jumped up and down, excited that I finally decided to film these m&m brownies.

m&m brownies, m & m brownies

You know that brownies are a labour of love, right? So that means, taking the time to fold in that chocolate. For brownies, you only need a wooden spoon. So ditch the whisk, and settle for a wooden spoon to mix in the ingredients. Using a whisk incorporates too much air and makes cakes brownies, instead of fudge brownies. But fudge brownies are life!!!!!!

Preparation Time 15 minutes

Cook Time 35-38 minutes

Serves 12

Ingredients

1 cup butter

1 cup chocolate chips- divided

2 cups sugar

4 eggs- room temperature

1 teaspoon vanilla

3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder - sifted

1 cup all purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup m&ms- divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180c. Line a 9 inch square baking pan with parchment paper. Set it aside.

  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Turn off the stove, add 1/2 cup chocolate chips and the sugar. Mix well until the chocolate melts and the mixture is smooth.

  3. Pour the mixture into a bowl. Add the eggs one at a time. Mix well between each addition. Stir in the vanilla.

  4. Add the flour, cocoa powder, salt and baking powder. Stir the mixture until JUST combined.

  5. Fold in the rest of the chocolate chips and 1/2 cup m&ms.

  6. Pour into the lined tin. Level off with a spatula.

  7. Top with the remaining m&ms.

  8. Bake at 180c for 35-38 minutes. A skewer inserted into the middle of the brownies will come out with a few crumbs on it.

  9. Cool before cutting and serving.
