The winters are here, which means lots of hot desserts, which you can scoop into a bowl, huddle in a blanket and enjoy it in front of the telly in the evenings. I know you know what I mean. And this Hot Fudge Chocolate Pudding is definitely one of them!
This recipe is easy and great for beginner who want to make something quick and easy. From start to finish it takes around 45 minutes. Enough time for someone to pop out and pick up some ice cream to serve with it.
Preparation Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes
Serves 6-8
Ingredients
Cake
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup butter- melted
1 teaspoon vanilla
Fudge Sauce
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 1/4 cups boiling water
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 170c. Prepare a 9x9 inch square baking dish. You don't need to grease or line the baking dish. I used a pyrex dish for this one. Boil a kettle of water, then set it aside for use later.
For the cake: combine the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Add the milk, melted butter and vanilla. Whisk until smooth and free of lumps.
Pour the batter into the baking dish. Level it off with an offset spatula.
For the fudge sauce: combine the sugars and cocoa powder. Mix well. Evenly spread it over the batter. Slowly pour over the boiling water. DO NOT STIR IT IN. LEAVE IT AS IT IS.
Bake it for 30-35 minutes or until the centre is just set. Remove from the oven. Allow it to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Serve with ice cream. Spoon into bowls and top with the fudge sauce that has pooled in the baking dish.
