Winter is coming, meaning that hands will be cold. Why not keep those empty cold hands warm with a mug of rich, hot chocolate. And this isn't made from the powder stuff. Not that I have anything against Cadbury's Hot Chocolate powder. I'll reach for that when I don't have time or energy to make anything else. But this hot chocolate is made with ACTUAL chocolate and cocoa powder. The combination of them both will bring a depth to the Hot Chocolate, that powder mixes just can't do.
The recipe is really simple, and requires only 5 ingredients.
Preparation Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Serves 4
Ingredients
3/4 cup water
3 Tablespoons cocoa powder
3 cups milk
3 Tablespoons sugar
6 oz / 170 grams dark chocolate
Garnish
mini marshmallows
whipped cream
Instructions
Place the water in a saucepan and bring it to a simmer.
Add the cocoa powder to the water and give it a mix. This will allow the cocoa powder to bloom and release a deeper chocolatey flavour.
Add the milk, chocolate and sugar. Give it a thorough mix. Cook on a low heat until thick and creamy.
Pour into mugs, top with whipped cream and mini marshmallows.
Enjoy!
