Since the kids have been young, they have loved chicken tenders, but anything you can find in a packet, they know I’ll try to make it better. So recently I wanted to try making something fun and delicious for the kids. And these honey garlic chicken tenders were a huge hit with the whole family. I served it with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. Preparation Time 10 minutes
Marination Time 3-4 hours
Serves 4
Ingredients
500 grams chicken tenders
Marination
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1 teaspoon thyme
1 egg
Oil- for frying
Dry Flour Mixture
1.5 cups flour
Same seasoning and quantities as the marination
Sauce
2 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon vinegar
1/3 cup honey
2-3 cloves garlic- minced
1/2 teaspoon corn starch mixed in 1 teaspoon water
Instructions
Combine the ingredients for marination. Add the chicken and marinate for 3-4 hours.
In bowl, prepare the mixture for seasoning. Double coat the chicken by dipping the chicken in seasoned flour, then back into the marination and then lastly in the seasoned flour.
Deep fry the chicken at 180c for 4-5 minutes until golden brown.
Prepare the sauce by sautéing the garlic in the butter for 30 seconds. Add the honey, soy sauce and vinegar. Mix well add the corn starch slurry. Cook it for 2 minutes until thickened.
Coat the chicken tenders in the sauce and serve with ranch dressing, mashed potatoes and vegetables.
