Homemade Hoisin Sauce

So I was making Beijing Beef yesterday and while I was setting up the ingredients, I realised I didn’t have any hoisin sauce! I literally had no option but to make my own, so off to the kitchen I went and whipped this homemade hoisin sauce in no time! 



Homemade Hoisin Sauce


Preparation Time 2 minutes 

Yields 1/2 cup 


Ingredients 


1/4 cup soy sauce 

2 tablespoons smooth peanut butter 

1 tablespoon honey 

2 teaspoon honey 

2 teaspoon sesame oil 

1 love garlic- minced 

1/8 teaspoon black pepper 

1 teaspoon Thai chilli sauce plus 1/4 teaspoon five spice powder 

(OR 1 teaspoon miso paste, OR 1/2 teaspoon fermented bean paste, OR 1/2 teaspoon gochujang plus 1/4 teaspoon five spice powder)





Instructions 


  1. Combine all the ingredients in bowl and mix it in until smooth. 

  2. Store the sauce in an airtight container or jar in the fridge for up to 1 month.
