I wanted to have chinese take out. But not the same boring crispy sesame chicken or the beef and broccoli. So I thought I would change it up and share my Chicken Teriyaki Recipe with you guys. It comes together in no time at all. 15 minutes tops. Serve with my Vegetable Fried Rice and you will be set for a quick week day dinner!
Ingredients
600 grams chicken breasts- cut into medium sized cubes
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup soya sauce
6 Tablespoons light brown sugar
5 Tablespoons white vinegar
1 Tablespoon sesame oil
3 cloves garlic- minced
1 sliced green onion- for garnish
1 teaspoon corn starch mixed in 1/4 cup water
4 cups steamed broccoli
Instructions
Heat cooking oil in a wok/ a pan. Cook off the chicken until golden brown and take off the heat.
Add the garlic to the pan and sauté with the chicken for one minute.
Combine the soya sauce, brown sugar, vinegar and sesame oil. Stir to combine. Pour the sauce in with the chicken. Cook on a low heat for 2 minutes.
Combine the corn starch and 1/4 cup water to make a corn starch slurry.
Pour this slurry into the pan. Mix well and cook on a low heat until the mixture thickens.
Add the steamed broccoli and mix well. Cook until desired consistency.
optional: Garnish with chopped spring onions.
